Owens, Ellen Katherine

Ellen Katherine Owens, 74, of Radford, Va. passed on Saturday, February 2, 2019. Beloved by all her friends and family, Ellen was a member of many clubs and organizations in Radford and most recently served as treasurer of the Women’s Club of Radford. One of her favorite delights was distributing books in Radford and Fairlawn with RIF (Reading is Fundamental).

She was born in St. Louis, Mo., graduated from North Central High School in Indianapolis, Ind., and attended Ball State University. Ellen’s professional career included five years as a Buyer for Halo Ind. of Southfield MI. and as a Program Mgr. for Puma USA of Natick, Mass. She was voracious reader and was considered a ‘walking encyclopedia’. She always had a smile on her face and her infectious laugh and generous spirit were sure to cheer up those who were fortunate to be around her.

She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Patrick, Patrick Jr.; son, Timothy; son, Megan Bauer; daughter, leaving behind as well her three sisters and six grandchildren.

Mass will be celebrated at noon on Friday, February 15, 2019 at St. Jude Catholic Church in Christiansburg and a Memorial Service will be held beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday February 16, 2019 at McCoy Funeral Home in Blacksburg.
