Buckner, Joyce Gwynn

Joyce Gwynn Buckner, 74, of Floyd, Va., passed away peacefully in her home in St. Augustine, Fla., on Friday, January 18, 2019, from pancreatic cancer. She was born on December 9, 1944, in Floyd, Va., to Buddy and Ilene Vest. She worked as an Alachua County employee in Gainesville, Fla., for many years, and in her spare time, enjoyed camping, boating, and sports, especially basketball. Joyce is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Alan Buckner; two children; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; her mother; five siblings; and other family and friends. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, January 28, 2019, at Oakey’s South Chapel, 4527 Brambleton Avenue, Roanoke, Va. 24018. Services will be conducted from noon until 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 29, 2019, also at Oakey’s South Chapel with interment to follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
