Bishop, Kyle Newton

bishop_kyle_newtonKyle Newton Bishop, 89, of Riner, Va., better known as “Pa,” went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 18, 2010, from the comfort of his home. A true patriarch, his strong faith and Christian example touched all who knew him. Kyle attended Sidney United Methodist Church in Riner where he was a devoted and active member for 61 years. He served as Sunday School Superintendent, taught Sunday School, and was a member of various committees. Kyle was born and raised in Riner, where he graduated as salutatorian for his class at Auburn High School, married his loving wife of 65 years, worked and raised his family, and was a cornerstone of the community. He was a well known dairy farmer, always wanting the best for his herd. He was also talented at carpentry work. His family and farm were his pride and joy. Kyle looked forward to Sunday afternoon drives where he watched the rhododendrons bloom in the spring and the leaves changing color in the fall. He loved watching his crops grow, planting his garden, spending time with family and friends, sharing family history, and eating a good watermelon. Kyle leaves behind a wonderful legacy in his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed. Kyle is survived by his loving wife, Ida Mae Lucas Bishop; his son and daughter-in-law, Richard “Dickie” and Ita Bishop; his daughter and son-in-law, Marjorie and Ron Morgan; his sister, Mary Ann Lawrence, of West Jefferson, N.C.; granddaughter, Melissa Anderson and husband, Daryl; granddaughter, Michelle Underwood and husband, Brian; grandson, K.J.
