Miles, Evelyn Virginia Belcher

miles_evelyn_belcherEvelyn Virginia Belcher Miles, 85, of Christiansburg, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 2, 2010. Evelyn was born in Princeton, W.Va. on March 30, 1925. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jim Belcher and Mary Viola (Stone) Belcher and her husband, the late Robert Eugene Miles. Evelyn is survived by two sisters, Estelle L. Castor and Nancy E. Walker, of Christiansburg, Va.; and a brother, James (Jim) Evard Belcher and his wife, Mary, of Frederick, Md. Evelyn is also survived by her daughters, Paula Miles Smith, of Forest City, N.C., Paulette Miles Bailey and her husband, Larry, of Lynchburg, Va., Pamela Miles Robinson and her husband, Roy, of Locust Grove, Va. and Pandora Miles Crider and Sammy Lyles, of Page County, Va.; and a special brother-in-law, John B. Miles and his wife, Boots, of Jacksonville, N.C. She is affectionately known as “Nannie” to eight grandchildren, Heather Bailey Bowen, of Lynchburg, Va., WO1 Kimberly Renee Bailey, of Fort Lewis, Wash., Nikki C. Morris, of Fulks Run, Va., Victoria C. Petit, of Dayton, Va., Brian Perry Schaffer and Stephen Dale Schaffer, of Forest City, N.C., Mathew Lee Robinson, of Christiansburg, Va., MaryLynn Robinson White, of Lindside, W.Va.; 16 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Evelyn was a loving mother, grandmother and friend who consistently strove to help those in their time of need and dedicating her life to the family she loved so much. As part of her extended family, she enjoyed volunteering and working with the youth ministries as an active member of Cambria Baptist Church. She was also engaged in honoring the U.S. Military as an officer, volunteer and lifetime member of the District 6 Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 5311. A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 5, 2010 at 10 a.m. at Cambria Baptist Church, 1310 Cambria Street NE, Christiansburg, VA 24073, with Dr. Thomas Harvey officiating.
