Nester, Vander Maurice

Vander Maurice (Van) Nester, 62, of Christiansburg, Va., passed away Friday, July 2, 2010. He was a United States Army veteran having served during the Vietnam Era. A graduate of Virginia Tech, he was retired former owner of Star Electric Company. He was born in Roanoke, the son of Elda Sutphin Nester and the late Marvin Nester. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Velma A. Nester, of Christiansburg; two daughters, Wendy Yvette Nester, of Santa Fe, N.M., and Kari Paige Nester, of Wilmington, N.C.; a grandson, Keean Eckert, of Santa Fe, N.M.; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Wayne and Donna Nester, of Christiansburg, Allen and Jill Nester, of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Tim and Joyce Nester, of Radford; sister and brotherin-law, Sonja and Dennis D’Souza, of Roanoke; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 5, 2010, at 5 p.m. at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with Elder Don Singleton officiating. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until the time of the service on Monday at the funeral home.
