Edmonds Sr., Everett Lee

Everett Lee Edmonds Sr., 81, of Valley Road, Pulaski, Va., passed away on Sunday, June 27, 2010, at his home. Born on October 24, 1928, in Austinsville, Va., he was the son of the late Richard Lee and Mary Ann Stoots Edmonds. One son, Everett Lee Edmonds Jr.; and brothers, Melvin and Lonnie Edmonds; also preceded him in death.

He was retired from the United States Army as Master Sergeant with over 22 years of service. He served in World War II and in Korea where he was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Pulaski Church of God, a member of the VFW Post #1115 (Hillsville) and a member of the Masonic Lodge in Furth, Germany, Truth & Friendship #828, Vermont Consistory 32° , Burlington, Vt.

He is survived by his wife, Freda Joy Warf Edmonds, of Pulaski; daughters and sonsin-law, Sandy and Paul Turpin, of Pulaski, and Mary Catherine and Tommy VonGarlem, of Hughesville, Md.; son, Gary Wayne Edmonds, of Pulaski; grandchildren, Jacob Edmonds, Taylor Edmonds, and Megan Turpin; greatgrandchildren , Tanner and Cody Edmonds; sister and brother-in-law, Laurain Edmonds Gentry and husband, Bobby, of Farmville, Va.; brother and sister-in-law, Clyde and Nita Edmonds, of Galax, Va.; and daughter-inlaw, Susan Dunagan Edmonds, of Pulaski.

Funeral services will be held 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at the Pulaski Church of God with Pastor Jerry Collins officiating. Interment will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 1, 2010, at the Draper Valley Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery where the VFW Post #1115 will conduct Full Military Honors.
