Snider, John Robert

John Robert Snider, 88, of Ripplemead, Va., passed away on Monday, May 17, 2010, in Giles Memorial Hospital. Mr. Snider retired from Norfolk & Western in 1981 with 40 years of service. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Lawson Snider; and father and mother, Charles and Agnes Long Snider. Survivors include stepson, James Lawson; brothers, David Snider, Steve Snider, and Curtis Snider; sisters, Bessie Snider, Fanny Adkinson, and Eula McGuire; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive. The family will accept friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 20, 2010, at DeVilbiss Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, May 21, 2010, at DeVilbiss Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Sam Franklin officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens.
