Sutphin, Garnie Roger

Garnie Roger Sutphin, 74 of Christiansburg, VA went to be with the Lord on January 18, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents Miles Graden Sutphin and Izola Trail Sutphin and a sister Clista Diane Sutphin.

Roger pursued various opportunities throughout his lifetime pertaining to his career which included being a machinist for over 20 years, area maintenance mechanic for the Radford Arsenal, promotional sales, and a pest control technician. Roger was a graduate of New River Community College. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, going to yard sales, being in the outdoors, and spending time with his family.

Roger leaves behind his loving wife of 49 years, Rebecca Ann Vest Sutphin, his two sons David Christopher Sutphin and his wife Nicole, and Matthew Blake Sutphin, a grandson Clayton Miles Sutphin; his sister and brother-in-law, Laura & Teddy Moore, Sr.; niece and nephew, Debra Moore and Teddy Moore, Jr.; and great-niece, Jessica & Chris Thompson, all from Christiansburg, VA.

Roger’s wishes were to be cremated with no visitation or viewing, but you may send condolences to the family at www.avestandsons.com. The family will have a celebration of life with immediate family and close friends on Sunday, January 21, 2018 from 2:30pm to 4:30pm at David and Nicole’s home.
