Murdock, William Crockett

William (Bill) Crockett Murdock, age 90, of Blacksburg died, Sunday, January 14, 2018 at Lewis Gale Hospital-Montgomery. He was born in Montgomery County, VA on November 1, 1927 to the late Oakley C. and Mary Jane Saul Murdock. He was also preceded in death by three sisters and brothers-in-law, Martha and Sidney Dalton, Catherine and Albert “Bud” Linkous, Betty and Maynard Whitlock; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Norris W. and Dorothy Murdock, Oakley C. Jr. and Phyllis Murdock, Gene and Margaret Murdock, Louis Ray and Carolyn Murdock. Bill was a member and a Deacon at Blacksburg Christian Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Bill retired from Bell Atlantic after over 30 years of service. He was a mason over 60 years with Hunters Lodge #156 A.F. and A.M. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Faye Taylor Murdock; sister, Nancy Louise Allen of Horn Lake, MS; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted Friday, January 19, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. in the Blacksburg Christian Church with the Rev. Gary McCoy and Rev. Jerry Dowdy officiating. Interment will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin, VA. The family will receive friends and share food from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
