Illene Williams McKinney, 70, of Narrows, Va., went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 1, 2010. A lifelong resident of Giles County, she was born on August 14, 1939, and was the daughter of the late Charlie Guy and Nettie Blankenship Williams. In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Dillard McKinney; a son, William Randolph (Randy) McKinney; two brothers, Johnny Perdue and wife, Barb, and Bob Williams and wife, Janetta; and a sister, Eva Candler. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, she was a caregiver and a friend to many. Illene also loved flower gardening, and traveling with her Sunshine Tours companion, Ewilda Leftwich. She’ll be dearly missed by her family and all who knew her. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Timmy McKinney and wife, Darlene of Staffordsville; a granddaughter, Sarah Beth Couch and husband, Jonathan, of Newport; a sister, Wanda Nelson, of Narrows; a brotherin-law, Bob Candler, of Narrows; several nieces, nephews and cousins, including a special nephew who she loved like a brother, Leon Meredith and wife, Earlene, of Pearisburg; a special friend, Marilyn Thompson, of Glen Lyn; and three very special pets, Shania, Misty, and Jack. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 5, 2010, in the chapel of Riffe’s Funeral Service in Narrows with Pastor Shahn Wilburn officiating. Burial will follow in Angels Rest Cemetery.
