Martin, Paul Dean
On November 2, 2017, Paul Dean Martin, 63, of Ripplemead, Va., passed away following an automobile accident. He was the son of the late Ira Minor and Ruby LaFon Martin.
He is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Julie Elkins Martin of Ripplemead; daughter, Deanna Gale Starbuck of Bakersfield, Calif.; son, Robbie Ira Martin of Christiansburg; daughter, Yvette Danielle Martin of Christiansburg, Va.; and his dear grandchildren, Taylor Starbuck and Elli Martin.
He was a 1972 graduate of Giles High School and attended New River Community College. He was cherished by his coworkers at UTC AeroSpace. He was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Dean was known for his witty charm and gentle kindness. He loved music and was an accomplished guitarist and singer and was the family favorite handy man as he was an excellent wood worker. He enjoyed hunting and fishing at the family cabin, watching movies with his wife, and he loved being social as he never met a stranger. He served as the Martin family patriarch and was deeply interested in his family’s heritage.
In lieu of flowers, Dean would have loved to have his family and friends rejoice in his memory around a delicious meal. Any specific donations should be made to a charity of your choice in his name.
His viewing will be from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Monday, November 6, 2017 with the funeral on Tuesday starting at 12 p.m. Pall bearers will be Robert Pitzer, Lee Rhodes, Doug Jones, Keith Martin, Garry Williams, Barry Moats, Allen Martin, and Leslie Martin. Honorary pall bearers, Jimbo Martin and Marvin Gautier.
Kendall Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
