Maxwell, Myrtle Marie Wood

Myrtle Marie Wood Maxwell, 81, of Christiansburg, Va., went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 30, 2010. She was born on August 23, 1928 in Camp Creek, West Virginia, the daughter of the late George and Annie Wood. Myrtle was a dearly beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who never failed to share her love with everyone in her life. She was of the Baptist faith and attended several churches where her husband pastored. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 60 years, Gilbert Massie Maxwell; sons, Gilbert Lee Maxwell, Edward Lynn Maxwell and wife, Ellen, Randall Leon Maxwell and wife, Jeanine; daughter, Cynthia Maxwell; grandchildren, Marty Maxwell and wife, Christy, Jessica Maxwell, Justin Maxwell, Hayley Maxwell, Michael Maxwell, Kayla Maxwell, Ciara Maxwell, Catherine Maxwell, Alexis Maxwell; greatgrandchildren, Abby Maxwell, Wesley Maxwell, all of Christiansburg; and brother, George Wood, of White Oak, West Virginia. We would like to thank Dr. Soloman and staff, and the Heritage Hall staff for their compassionate care. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 1, 2010, at the Horne Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at Horne Funeral Home on Friday, April 2, 2010, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Russell Gordon officiating.
