pence_harry_jimmylyleDr. Harry Jimmylyle Pence, Ph.D., 75, of Blacksburg, Va., died on Monday, March 8, 2010, at the Brian Center, Fincastle. He was born in Staunton, Va., on September 26, 1934, to the late Harry Rufus and Sylvia Elesta Wine Pence. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He retired in 1999 as a Civil Engineer from Virginia Tech. He is survived by his wife, George Ann Pence, of Blacksburg; one daughter and son-in-law, Elesta and Craig Dobbins, of Blacksburg; two sons and daughters-in-law, Harry and Heather Pence, of Christiansburg, and George Monte Joe and Tiffany Pence, of Sulpher, La.; and 11 grandchildren, Cody, Morgan, Caleb, Kristian, Wyatt, Harrison, Conner, Carson, Ellen, Kaitlyn, and Dawson. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 13, 2010, in the North Fork Baptist Church, Ellett with the Rev. Dewey O. Weaver Jr. and the Rev. Scott Souther officiating. Interment will follow in the North Fork Baptist Church Cemetery, Ellett. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Feed the Children, P.O. Box 36, Oklahoma City, Okla. 73101-0036. Friends may call anytime after 4 p.m. on Friday, March 12, 2010, at North Fork Baptist Church, and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday evening at the church.
