Leffel, Marie Christian Kidd

Marie Christian Kidd Leffel, 92, of Radford, Va., and formerly of Tazewell County, Va., passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2010, at Wheatland Hills Assisted Living in Radford, Va. Born on April 21, 1917, in Bland County, Va., she was a daughter of the late Hiram and Flora Anna Fox Christian. Prior to moving to Radford to be near her daughter, she lived in Tazewell County. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Earl Kidd Sr.; her second husband, John W. Leffel; one son, Earl Kidd Jr.; three sisters, Eula Blessing, Calla Blessing, and Annette Kirby; one brother, Fox Christian; son-in-law, William Cabbage; and two nieces. She is survived by her daughter, Julia (Judy) Kidd Cabbage, of Radford, Va.; stepdaughter, Betty Leffel Fox, of Alexandria, Va.; daughter-inlaw, Betty Siler Kidd, of Williamsburg, Va.; three grandsons, Michael Cabbage and wife, Sondra Davis Cabbage, Dr. Brian Cabbage, and Zachary Kidd; two greatgrandchildren, Max Cabbage and Sofia Cabbage; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. on Friday, March 5, 2010, at Peery & St.Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell, Va., with the Rev. Rodney Lawson officiating. Burial will follow at the Kidd Cemetery at Grapefield in Bland County, Va. Pallbearers will be Mike Neel, Danny Neel, Robert Hayes, Randy Fox, Johnny Blessing, Gerald Blessing, and Steve Kinser. The family will receive friends at the funeral home after 12:30 p.m. on Friday, March 5, 2010. The family would like to express their gratitude to all the people that helped in Marie’s care, Wheatland Hill’s Assisted Living, Dr. Charles Judy, and Medi Home Health and Hospice.
