Dallman, Carol Rose

Carol Rose Dallman, age 77, of Blacksburg died, Wednesday, July 25, 2017, at Lewis Gale Hospital-Montgomery. She was born in Knowles, Wisconsin on September 7, 1939 to the late Maurice and Lavila Jesse Ehrhardt.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Ron Ehrhardt. She graduated from Lomira High School, went to North Central College and transferred to the University of Wisconsin. Carol married Mark Dallman and went to the University of Wisconsin where she worked in the University library. After leaving Wisconsin, Carol and Mark moved to University of Missouri-Columbia, where she worked in the library field and she and Mark sang in a variety of choirs. They then moved to Joliet, IL where Carol held a variety of jobs including founding an elementary school library. Mark had an opportunity to go to graduate school in the veterinary field at U.M.C. and they both sang in the church choir and a civic choral union.

Mark and Carol moved to Blacksburg in 1983, where Mark worked at Virginia Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine and Carol joined the staff at Virginia Tech Library.

They both sang in the civic choirs and were charter members of the Blacksburg Master Chorale.

Upon moving to Blacksburg they joined Blacksburg United Methodist Church where they sang in the choir.

The family wishes to thank all of those who helped Carol in her final days, especially Dr. Greg Beato and the Lewis Gale Hospital-Montgomery medical staff.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Mark Jay Dallman; son and daughter-in-law, Kurt and Dawn Dallman; daughters, Karen Chiodini, Kris Lane; grandchildren, Shelley, Samantha, Blaine, Shane, Zane; great-grandchild, Eli; sisters and brother-in-law, Evelyn Krug, Lois Hartwig, Lynn and George Sherman; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Janet Ehrhardt.

Memorial services will be conducted Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Blacksburg United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ralph Rowley officiating. A reception will follow in the Whisner Building.

Memorial contributions may be made to Blacksburg United Methodist Church Choir or to the Blacksburg Master Chorale.
