Akers, Mazie Lee Fletcher

Mazie Lee Fletcher Akers, 80, of Radford, Va., passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2010. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Radford.

She was preceded in death by three sons, Columbus Lee Akers, James Dale Akers and William Patton (Bill) Akers. Survivors include three daughters and son-in-law, Linda Prescott, of Radford, Pam and Gordon Middlekauff, of Vinton, and Sandy Meachun, of Rocky Gap; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry Wayne and Brenda Akers, of Pulaski; very special daughter-in-law and friend, Vickie Akers and Glenn King, of Radford; special niece, Josie Havens and family, of Bland; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Special thanks to Carilion New River Valley Hospice and to her caregiver, Willa Roseberry.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Monday, March 1, 2010, at the Friendship Baptist Church in Radford with the Rev. John Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in West View Cemetery in Radford. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 28, 2010, from 3 until 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
