Goodman, Mary Eileen

Mary Eileen Goodman, 88, of Christiansburg, Va., formerly of Coalwood, W.Va., died Tuesday, February 2, 2010, at Richfield Nursing Center in Salem, Va. Born April 22, 1921, in Princeton, W.Va., she was the daughter, of the late Chester P. and Minnie Gillespie Scott. She had been a resident of Richfield Nursing Center since November 1999, prior to that she had resided in Coalwood the greater part of her life. She was of the Pentecostal Holiness Faith. She was a former employee of the G.C. Murphy Company in Welch, W.Va. for 20 years. Preceded in death by in addition to her parents; her husband, Lonnie L. Goodman Sr.; one daughter, Frances Hodges; two brothers, C.P. Scott Jr. and Donald Scott; two sisters, Tula Puckett and Georgia Ervin. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. David (Jo Ann) Sublett, of Vinton, Va.; one son, Lonnie L. Leon Goodman Jr. and wife, Linda, of Christiansburg, Va.; one brother, John Scott and wife, Sue, of Mena, Ariz.; three sisters, Louise Perdue, of Rocky Mount, Va., Delores Brown, of Roanoke, Va., Freda Phillips, of Salem, Va.; one special sister-in-law, Donna Scott, of Carlisle, Pa.; one former son-in-law, Buford Hodges, of Boones Mill, Va.; four grandchildren, Kelli Goodman Sarver and husband, Crockett, of Bland, Va., Karri Goodman, of Christiansburg, Va., Mathew Sublett, of Roanoke, Va., Randall Hodges and wife, Sue, of Rocky Mount, Va.; and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, February 5, 2010, at 12 noon from the Fanning Funeral Home Chapel in Welch, W.Va., with the Rev. Walter Muncy, officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, Va. Friends may call Friday morning at the funeral home, from 11 a.m. to 12 noon. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Fanning Funeral Home of Welch, W.Va., is serving the Goodman family.
