Austin, Roger David

Roger David (Mooney) Austin, of Radford, Va., was born on April 17, 1949, and was called to his heavenly home on Wednesday, February 3, 2010. “Mooney” spent a lot of time with family and special friends; he was a very loving and kind hearted man. Those who met him made a friend for life and he never met a stranger in his path. His father, John W. Austin, preceded him in death. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Carolyn (Ann) Austin, of Christiansburg; four grandchildren, Garrett Austin, and Lori, Joshua, and Jacob Pagans; his mother Ruth A. Austin, of Radford; a brother and sister-in-law, Charles (Willie) and Cheryl Austin, of Radford; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Jane (Janie) and Hubert (Tony) Turner, of Pulaski; three nephews; four nieces; four great-nieces; 10 greatnephews; and one greatgreat-nephew. He was also survived by many other family members and special friends. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, February 5, 2010, with the Reverend Buford Linkous officiating. Interment will follow in Sunrise Burial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, February 4, 2010, at the DeVilbiss Funeral Home, Radford, Va.
