Lafon, Emma Laverne

Emma Laverne LaFon, 88, formerly of Newport, departed this life for her heavenly home from Riverview Nursing Home in Rich Creek Saturday afternoon, January 30, 2010. Born in Pearisburg on August 2, 1921, she was a daughter of the late George Washington Turpin and Carrie Sue Smith Turpin Wilson. She was a member of Newport Christian Church and the CWF. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Fred W. LaFon, her brothers, Homer and Junior Turpin and her sisters, Flossie Waldron and Elsie Donathan. She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Larry LaFon, of Pearisburg; her grandchildren, Tim LaFon, of Greensboro, N.C., Christi Montgomery, of Kernersville, N.C., Cindy Bradbury, of Bastian, B.J. LaFon, of Blacksburg; her great-grandchildren, Justin LaFon, Josh LaFon, Ashley Bradbury, Ryan Bradbury, Jimmy Montgomery, and McKalea Montgomery; her sisters, Mary Sue LaFon, of Pearisburg, Freida Sadler, of Pulaski, and Betty Johnston, of Pearisburg; her brothers, Eugene Turpin, of Pearisburg, and Don Wilson, of Pearisburg. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at 2 p.m. in the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke, with Pastor Roger Henderson and Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating. Burial will follow in Clover Hollow Cemetery at Newport.
