Lepchitz, Issy

Issy Lepchitz of Twin Oaks, Pulaski, Va., passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2010, in the Pulaski Community Hospital at the age of 88. He was born on October 21, 1921, in Radford, Va., and was the son of the late Felix and Bertha Lepchitz. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Jakie and Morris Lepchitz; and by a sister, Ethel Epstein. Mr. Lepchitz was past president of the Pulaski Merchants Association, past president of the Jaycees, past president of the Pulaski Kiwanis Club and a member of the American Legion. He was a World War II veteran of the United States Army stationed in the Pacific. He was also a life-long member of the Beth Israel Synagogue in Roanoke, Va. Surviving are his wife of 36 years, Sally Wiley Lepchitz, of Pulaski; and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his faithful caregivers and in-laws, Keith, Mandy, Jeremy and Pinky. The family wishes to especially thank Dr. Pendergrast, Dr. Skylar, employees of Advanced Health Care, and the nurses of the Pulaski Hospital who were so very kind to him. A graveside service will be held 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 29, 2010, from the Beth Israel Cemetery, Roanoke, Va., with Rabbi Fabian Werbin officiating. The family will receive friends at their home at any time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home, Inc., Pulaski, Va.
