Marsh, Edwin Chastaine

Edwin Chastaine Marsh, 91, of Blacksburg, Va., died Saturday, June 17, 2006 at home.

He was born in Lynchburg, Va. on January 26, 1915 to the late Thomas R. and Edwyna Candler Marsh. Mr. Marsh was preceded in death by his first wife, Sarah Cotey Marsh; second wife, June Forbes Marsh; his brother, Maynard Marsh and wife Frances.

Mr. Marsh received his B.S. and M.S. from Virginia Tech. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the US Army, and retired from the Army Reserve as a colonel. He was the Hospital Administrator at Virginia Baptist Hospital, Lynchburg, before returning to Blacksburg. After returning, Mr. Marsh was a professor in the Virginia Tech Pamplin College of Business until retiring in 1981.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine Breske Marsh and her four sons, Adam, Daniel, David and Michael Breske; one daughter and son-in-law, Sara M. and Bill Gentry of Blacksburg; one son and daughter-in-law, Edwin C., Jr. (Chip) and Martha Marsh of Levelland, Texas; five grandchildren, Kate Gentry Hansen of Blacksburg, Will Gentry of Blacksburg, Annalee M. Sirmeyer of Orlando, Fla., Elan Marsh and Rebecca Marsh both of Titusville, Fla.; two great-grandchildren, Hunter and Walker Hansen of Blacksburg; and three nieces, Patricia Marsh Chafee of Afton, Va., Elizabeth Marsh Anderson of Forest, Va., and Betty Patteson McNally of Forest, Va.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, June 21, 2006 at 10 a.m. in the Blacksburg Baptist Church with the Dr. Tommy McDearis and the Dr. Don McKinney officiating. Graveside service will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery in Lynchburg, Va. at 3 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ed Marsh Memorial Fund, Blacksburg Baptist Church, 550 Main Street, Blacksburg, Va. 24060 or to the Edwin C. Marsh Scholarship Fund, Pamplin College of Business, 1030 Pamplin Hall, M/C 0209, Blacksburg, Va. 24061.

Friends may call anytime Tuesday, June 20, 2006 and the family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, SW, Blacksburg.
