Smythers, Michael O’Dell

Michael O’Dell Smythers, 58, of Allisonia, Virginia, passed away Monday, January 16, 2017 at his home.

Michael was born in Pulaski County, December 31, 1958 to Daris O’Dell Smythers and Dayna Whitt Smythers. Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Dayna Smythers, and a brother, Roydon Scott Smythers.

Survivors include his father, Daris O’Dell Smythers of Allisonia; one daughter and son-in-law, Samantha Jane and John David Stanger, and his pride and joy, one precious little granddaughter, Audrey Jane Stanger, all of Christiansburg. Also surviving is one brother and best friend, Daris Dwayne Smythers of Allisonia; two sisters, Sonja Taylor of Allisonia and Dari Jenkins of Pulaski; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Michael was a member of the Pulaski Seventh Day Adventist Church. He enjoyed history, sharing stories, producing beautiful flowers, and the companionship of two special cats, Fred and Sambo.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 20, 2017 at the Farris Mines Christian Church, Allisonia, Virginia with a dear friend, Pastor Tony Hodge officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Farris Cemetery, Allisonia. The Family will receive friends at the church from 1 p.m. till the service hour. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski.
