Frank John Lunney, 53, of Blacksburg, passed away on Thursday, July 5, 2012. He was predeceased by parents, Frank and Elizabeth Lunney; sister, Arlene; and his son’s mother, Maureen. Frank was born in Islip, N.Y. He lived in Panama for 11 years before moving to California. Through luck on the game show “Joker’s Wild” he won $50,000 enabling him to embark on his career as a comedian. As “Captain Rowdy” he toured the country for 20 years performing at numerous clubs in the southwest. In 1997 he became a DJ in Anchorage, Alaska, until an accident in December 2001. He remained active in the radio industry until his illness in 2010. Left to cherish his memory are son, Gage Lunney; stepsons, Joey, Joel, Robbie, and Jimmy; sister, Catherine Morrow; niece, Elissa Bostic; nephew, Christopher Udarbe; and grand-niece, Fiona Grace. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, July 17, 2012, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Blacksburg.
